School of Future Media
Established on October 1, 2025, the School of Future Media (SFM) consists of three Divisions: the Journalism and Media Studies Centre (Asia’s premier journalism education department, founded in 1999); the Documentary and AI Filmmaking Division (teaching documentary since 2010, and AI filmmaking since 2023), and the Global Creative Industries Division.

The Position
Applicants are invited for one or more of the areas of expertise under the headings below. Interdisciplinary experience and expertise are most welcome and highly valued.
- Journalism: AI applications in journalism practices, entrepreneurship, business journalism;
- Documentary: video production, directing, post-production;
- AI Film: generative AI models, model training, AI video editing and post-production, 3D and animation integration, audience and workflow design; and
- Global Creative Industries: gaming and digital humanities, visual arts and museum studies, music and performing arts, visual communications.
Requirements
Applicants should be highly accomplished professionals from the industry/public sector. They should possess a Master’s degree or above in journalism, communication or related fields, with at least 15 years of professional and practical experience in the journalism, film production or media industries, preferably with 5 of those years in senior management positions, as well as proven exceptional contributions to the industry at national/regional and international levels. Extensive teaching and supervisory experience in media education and curriculum design is required, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in either teaching or conducting training at tertiary or professional level. Proven leadership experience in administration, programme and curriculum development, and experience in China and Asia are advantages. Applicants with lesser qualification and experience may be considered for appointment for Associate Professor of Practice.
Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will principally engage in teaching and curriculum development, knowledge exchange and community engagement. They are also expected to remain active in professional, research or creative activities. He/She will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and curriculum development, as well as to undertake administrative duties at the Division and/or School levels.
What We Offer
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
