Assistant Finance Manager, Planning and Reporting Team in the Finance and Enterprises Office (Ref.: 535018)
The Role
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance (Head of Planning and Reporting Team of the Finance and Enterprises Office) and assisting the Finance Manager, the appointee will manage job portfolios in the following areas, including but not limited to:
- Preparing, coordinating and submitting annual budgets for the Council’s approval;
- Supporting committees by providing financial analyses and recommendations on budget requests for allocations to various faculties and departments;
- Collaborating with FEO team members and other departments to implement budget allocations throughout the whole budget cycle;
- Formulating and consolidating financial forecasts, and preparing annual returns for submission to funding bodies;
- Performing regular and ad-hoc financial reviews, including variance analyses, to monitor and report on the current status of resource allocation;
- Preparing fund schedules and notes for the annual financial closing at year-end;
- Recommending improvements to the budget and resources planning processes and preparing related documentation; and
- Performing other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Qualities
- A recognized Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related disciplines;
- A qualified accountant and/or member of recognized professional accounting bodies;
- At least 6 years’ post-degree relevant work experience with a minimum of 2 years at the supervisory level;
- Solid experience in budgeting and financial analysis is pre-requisite;
- Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and accounting software applications such as Oracle Financials, QlikView or other business intelligent systems; and
- Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, and be self-motivated for multitasking and setting priority for work assignments.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
