Security Specialist (at the rank of IT Officer/IT Technician) for Data and Security Team in the Information Technology Services (ITS) (Ref.: 536781)
Information Technology Services (ITS) provides central IT services to support the University’s teaching, learning, research and administrative activities. The Role
The appointee will be responsible for:
- Providing information security, cybersecurity and data protection services to the University community
- Monitoring security operations and providing emergency support in response to cybersecurity incidents
- Operating, managing and supporting security technologies and devices, and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure their effective operation
- Developing, implementing and supporting information security solutions to detect, alert and mitigate cyberattacks and security threats
- Keeping abreast of emerging technologies, cybersecurity threats, regulatory requirements and industry best practices in information security and data protection
- Performing any other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Qualities
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or a Higher Diploma in Information Technology (IT) or a related discipline, preferably with relevant IT work experience.
Applicants should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, and good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills; proven ability to execute multiple operational tasks independently and as part of a team according to prescribed guidelines. They should also have solid knowledge and experience in at least two of the following areas:
- Infrastructure and application security
- Operating, monitoring and managing security devices (firewalls, IPS, etc.)
- Security operation and incident response
- IT system auditing, data protection and privacy assessment
- Data protection compliance, privacy management and handling of data access requests
Those with the following knowledge or experience are preferred:
- Organizing training, awareness campaigns or educational programmes related to information security or data protection
- Familiarity with personal data protection regulations and privacy compliance requirements
- Experience in SCORM-based training content authoring/maintenance
Those with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered for appointment as IT Technician.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
