Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor positions in the Department of Data and Systems Engineering (Two posts) (Ref.:537326), to commence as soon as possible on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
The Department of Data and Systems Engineering is one of the five engineering departments in the Faculty of Engineering, offering B.Eng., M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in all major fields of data and systems engineering. The Department has strong research programs and excellent facilities for teaching and research. Information about the Department can be obtained at http://www.dase.hku.hk/.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in systems engineering, data science, industrial engineering, computer science or a related field, complemented by several years of post-doctoral research experience. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to research and teaching. A solid track record in research excellence is essential, preferably in (1) Robotics for Nano manufacturing; or (2) Intelligent Instrumentation for Biomedical Applications.
Those with the capability to initiate collaborative projects with researchers in Hong Kong will be preferred. They should have excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, and an excellent command of English.
The appointee will be expected to teach undergraduate or postgraduate courses, supervise graduate students, conduct research projects, attract external funding to support research, and provide institutional and professional services.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
