Senior Technical Officer in the Department of Microbiology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 537360) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, and with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should hold a Master’s degree or above, preferably in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of practical laboratory experience in biological, microbiological, biomedical, or biosafety level 2 and 3 (BSL-2 & BSL-3) laboratories. Familiarity with core laboratory equipment, such as flow cytometry, imaging systems, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms, as well as standard biological techniques and common laboratory instruments, is essential. They should possess good interpersonal and organizational skills, proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, and a strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation. They should also be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and be eager to learn new techniques. Applicants with a strong publication record will have an advantage.

The appointee will assist in conducting routine and advanced experiments, managing core equipment, and developing and implementing standard operating procedures. He/She will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with laboratory safety regulations and biosafety guidelines, and performing general administrative and ad hoc tasks as assigned.
