Manager/Assistant Manager (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II/Executive Officer) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Ref.:537465) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or management role, preferably in research administration, grant management, or knowledge transfer. A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline will be an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua and Cantonese). They should possess strong communication, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills, as well as a high level of IT proficiency and the ability to work independently. The successful candidate should demonstrate maturity, professionalism, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to manage complex, multi-tasking workflows under tight deadlines. Strong leadership capabilities, teamwork, and a proactive, fast-learning approach to work are essential. Applicants with less experience may be considered for appointment as Assistant Manager.

The appointee will provide high-level executive support and proactive coordination in departmental research administration, including pre- and post-award grant management, proposal coordination, compliance checks, and assistance to academic and research staff with project management. He/She will actively facilitate knowledge transfer activities, oversee research metrics and reporting, manage departmental research and funding, and oversee Research Postgraduate operations. In addition, the appointee will lead the planning and execution of major departmental forums, academic conferences, symposia, and research events. He/She will also provide secretarial support to research committees, oversee daily office operations to ensure high-quality service delivery, and perform ad hoc tasks as required, with occasional work outside regular office hours. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
