Research Assistant II in the Department of Pathology, School of Clinical Medicine and the State Key Laboratory of Liver Research (Ref.: 537538)  (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding)

Position Description:
The Department of Pathology is seeking a highly self-motivated and dedicated Research Assistant II to support cutting-edge translational research in using extracellular vesicles (EVs) for diagnosis and therapy of liver cancer. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Lucy Tian (From Prof. Irene Ng’s research team) on projects involving clinical-relevant projects and molecular mechanisms of immunotherapy resistant in liver cancer. Our research aims to develop novel EV-based strategies for biomarker detection and to engineer EVs as targeted drug-delivery vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cell Biology: Conduct standard cell culture, cell manipulation and functional assays.
• Molecular Biology: Perform routine laboratory assays including bacteria culture, cloning , plasmid preparation , qPCR, Western blotting, flow cytometry.
• Animal Work: Handle mouse work, including husbandry, xenograft allocation, drug administration, tumor monitor and measurement, tissue dissociation.
• Data record: Use logbook to record experiments, analyze the data using scientific software, including GraphPad Prism, SPSS, flow jo, ZEN, image J, etc

Qualifications and Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree or Master/M.Phil. degree in Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacy or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with basic molecular biology techniques (Western blot, qPCR, cloning) and animal work is preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Good command of written and spoken English and Mandarin.
• Skills in bioinformatic analysis is preferred, but not mandatory.
