About the HKU Northern Metropolis Office
 
With a view to consolidating our efforts in participating in the Northern Metropolis University Town initiative promulgated by the Government, The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has recently established the Northern Metropolis Office (NMO) to provide focused leadership and coordinated support for the University’s strategic developments in the Northern Metropolis University Towns (NMUTs). The NMO is responsible for the planning, development and future operation of these initiatives through engagement with stakeholders within and outside of the University.
 
The Role 
 
Reporting to the Executive Director (Academic), the appointee will:
 
  • maintain the administrative and operational instruments of academic planning;
  • provide logistic support for committee and task force meetings, and/or for projects/initiatives relating to the NMUT development;
  • draft submissions, progress reports and discussion documents;
  • collect, compile and prepare data to facilitate academic planning initiatives in the  NMUTs;
  • liaise with academic and administrative units to facilitate communication, consultation, and project implementation;
  • coordinate follow-up actions to ensure timely implementation of initiatives; and 
  • undertake office administration and other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications and Qualities
 
Applicants should have a good university degree with at least 5 years’ solid administrative experience, preferably in higher education; as well as an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua), and sound IT and quantitative skills. They should demonstrate strong organizational, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate should be a good team player with keen attention to details, able to multitask, meet tight deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.  
 
What We Offer
 
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for two years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
